Gregory
L. Moon, 1955-2003, Sedalia
Gregory L. Moon, 48, of
Sedalia, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1955,
in Pettis County, a son of Raymond Wesley and Betty Jean Dinwiddie Moon. On
Aug. 20, 1992, he was married to Joyce Finley, who survives of the home.
Mr. Moon was an
accomplished musician and song writer. He had played the guitar since he was
12. From the early 1970s through the 1990s, he played lead guitar in several
bands including Bush Whacker, Storm Crow and Coupe de Ville. He performed
several benefits for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer
Society and for cerebral palsy. The proceeds from his latest CD went to the
American Cancer Society. He loved music and enjoyed sharing his passion with
others. He loved being outdoors and collecting knives and guitars. He was known
for his sense of humor. He was his daughter's best friend.
Also surviving are a
daughter, Amber Cross, of Sedalia; his mother, of Sedalia; a sister, Cynthia
Nispell, of Liberty; a brother, Charles Smith, of Kansas City; three nephews;
and a niece.
He was predeceased by his
father.
Memorial services will be
from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 at 121 S. Ohio
Ave. Private burial will be at a later date.
The family suggests
memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of Ewing-Schutte
& Semler Funeral Home.
